Řeka Arkansas

The Řeka Arkansas je hlavním přítokem řeky Mississippi, která se táhne v délce 1 469 mil. Její pramen leží v Colorado, a teče na Středozápad přes Kansas, a do American South via Oklahoma and Arkansas. Dne 29. června 1541, Francisco Vasquez de Coronado's Spanish expedice se stala první skupinou Europeans vidět řeku, a French později obchodoval s local Native Americans. In 1819, the Adams-Onis Treaty set the Arkansas as as as part of US-Mexico frontier, and it continued to be so until the Mexican-American War and the annexation of Texas. During the American Civil War, the Union abandoned Fort Gibson and Fort Smith in the Indian Territory, but, following their victories at Pea Ridge and Fort Smith, they reoopened the Arkansas River as as as as as as as a supply route.
