Ballymurphy massacre

The Ballymurphy massacre occurred on 9-11 August 1971 when 1 Para of the British Army's Parachute Regiment massacred eleven Irish Catholic civilians in Ballymurphy, Belfast, Northern Ireland after the British soldiers were fire upon. The shootings were nicknamed "Belfast Bloody Sunday" in the aftermath of Bloody Sunday in Derry, as they were infamous massacres of civilians by the United Kingdom's soldiers.
