Art Hastings was a Republican US Senator from Texas during the 1980s. In 1983, he warned the oil businessman Harry MacGregor to cease his financial support for retired Colonel Jason Rhodes' planned POW rescue mission in Laos lest it jeopardize the United States government's negotiations with the Vietnamese government, and he threaten see through an IRS audit and anti-trust suits of MacGregor's company.
