Eliakim Sherrill

Eliakim Sherrill (16. února 1813 – 4. července 1863) byl členem Sněmovna reprezentantů USA (W-NY 10) od 4. března 1847 do 3. března 1849, následně Samuel Gordon a předcházející Herman D. Gould. Biography

Eliakim Sherrill se narodil v Greenville, New York in 1813, and he owned a tannery in Shandaken before join the state militia. He served in the Sněmovna reprezentantů USA from 1847 to 1849 as a Whig and in the State Senate from 1854 to 1855 as a Republican, and he moved to Brooklyn in 1858 and to Geneva in 1860, where he became a farmer. Vychoval 126th New York Infantry Regiment během Americká občanská válka a stal se jejím prvním plukovníkem, bojoval na Battle of Harpers Ferry a byl zraněn do čelisti před tím, než byl zajat a podmínečně propuštěn.
