Conrad von Rosen

Conrad von Rosen (1628-1715) byl maršálem Francie během Franco-Dutch War a War of the Grand Alliance.

Biography

Conrad von Rosen se narodil v Gross-Roop, Swedish Livonia (nyní Straupe, Latvia) v roce 1628 a sloužil v Swedish Army předtím, než byl vyloučen za zabití důstojníka v souboji. Rosen commanded the siege of Derry, and he lost James's faith for his cruelty towards Protestant prisoners during the siege and for his suggestion that the king burn Dublin after Williamite reinforcements arrived. Recalled to France, he became a cavalry general and served in the War of the Grand Alliance, lost his son and son-in-law at the 1693 Battle of Landen. He was appointed a Marshal of France in 1703, and he died in Alsace in 1715.
