Artaphernes II

Artaphernes II was the Persian satrap of Lydia od roku 492 př. n. l. do roku 480 př. n. l.

Životopis

Artaphernes byl synem Artaphernes a synovcem Darius the Great, a jeho strýc ho jmenoval a Datis velet expedici vyslané k potrestání Athens and Eretria za jejich podporu Ionian Revolt. V roce 490 př. n. l. zničili Eretrii, ale byli poraženi Athéňany při Battle of Marathon. O deset let později, Artaphernes velel Lydians and Mysians během jeho bratrance Xerxes Idruhá invaze do Řecka, během které byli poraženi při Battle of Salamis.
