Baldwin Village
Baldwin Village is a neighborhood in South Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California. The neighborhood, located in Crenshaw, was developed in the early 1940 and 1950 0s as a apartment complex for young families, and it was nicknamed "the Jungle" for its tropical trees and foliage. In 1990, Los Angeles City Council changed the name to "Baldwin Village" to reflect the affluent and peaceful Baldwin Hills neighborhood, as the name "the Jungle" reinforced the neighborhood's image as a wild and menacing place.
