The 6th Battalion was an infantry battalion of the Australian Army that was active from 1914 to 1919, from 1921 to 1944, from 1948 to 1960, from 1957 to 1960, and from 1965 to 1975. The battalion was raised in the Victorian city of Melbourne and its suburbs for service in the Australian Imperial Force during World War I, fighting at the Gallipoli campaign and on the Western Front and lost 1 066 killed and 2 017 wounded during the conflict.
