The 3rd Battalion was an infantry battalion of the Australian Army that was active from 1914 to 1919, from 1921 to 1943, from 1948 to 1960, and from 1965 to 1987. The battalion was raised from the Werriwa area of New South Wales and was one of the first Australian units to be sent overseas, arriving in Egypt in December 1914 and serving in the Gallipoli campaign of 1915 and on the Západní fronta z World War I, odlišující se v zákopech Francie a Belgie a utrpěl 3 598 obětí během války. 3. prapor byl několikrát rozpuštěn a reformován, sloužil v Severní Afrika, Sýrie, Řecko, Kréta, a Nová Guinea během World War II a jako miliční rota až do svého rozpuštění v roce 1987.
