The 27th Battalion was an infantry battalion of the Australian Army that was active from 1915 to 1919, from 1921 to 1946, from 1948 to 1960, and from 1965 to 1987. The battalion was recruited in South Australia and served in the Gallipoli campaign and on the Western Front of World War I before fighting on Bougainville during World War II. The battalion was merged into the Royal South Australia Regiment.
