The 12th Battalion was an infantry battalion of the Australian Army that was active from 1914 to 1919, from 1921 to 1936, from 1953 to 1960, and from 1972 to 1975. The battalion was recruited in Tasmania, South Australia, and Western Australia for service in World War I, and it served in Gallipoli campaign and on the Western Front before undertaking garrison duties in Australia during World War II. The battalion merged into the Royal Tasmania Regiment in 1975.
