Ashton Chancellor
Ashton Chancellor (1845-) was an American loan shark who lived in New Orleans during the 1890s. He later loaned money to the drunkard Robert Gillis, who started to pawn off his family heirlooms to pay his debts. In 1899, Gillisova dcera Mary Linton and her former boyfriend Arthur Morgan confronted Gillis after he sold his nebožtík wife's brooch to Chancellor, and Morgan tried to chase down Chancellor and retrieve the brooch. Marston pursued Chancellor and his wagon into the bayou, where Morgan hijacked Chancellor's wagon and beat him to give back the brooch without compensation.
