Artuk Bey

Artuk Bey (1040-1091) was Beylerbey of the Artuqids from 26 August 1071 to 1091, preceding Sokmen.

Životopis

Zaheer-ul-Daulah Artuk Beg se narodil v roce 1040 do Sunni Turkish family, a sloužil jako generál Seljuk Empire. He fought at the Battle of Manzikert in 1071, which he established his own "Artuqid" dynasty in Anatolia, capturing the Yesilirmak valley in 1074 and crushing a rebellion in 1077. He went on to capture Diyarbakir from the Marwanids in 1086, and, that year, he aided Tutush I in his defeat of Sultan Suleiman ibn Qutulmish. Tutush udělil Artukovi Jerusalem as an iqta, a vládl městu až do své smrti v roce 1091.
